Dr. Flavia Gruesc

Hello! My name is Dr. Flavia and I would like to welcome you to our practice. Let me start by telling you a bit about myself. I am a 1995 graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Medicine in Timisoara. After getting my degree, I practiced for several years in Romania. However, me and my husband decided to move to Canada in the early 2000’s. Once in Canada, I was admitted into the University of Toronto’s special program for foreign trained dentists and graduated (Honours) as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2005. One thing I have learned in the last 20 years as a dentist is that education and awareness are crucial. I want my patients to know what is happening to them by making sure to explain everything we do, and most importantly, why we do it. I do what it takes to make a patient feel comfortable so they can receive the treatment they need. My work philosophy is to perform result-oriented dental care while using proven and also up to date treatment methods. A patient’s oral health is more than just what happens in their mouth. That is why I focus on the overall patient well-being, with an emphasis on prevention. As a result you will see improved long-term comfort and a healthy smile. When I am not at the clinic I love to spend as much of my time with my husband Peter and my daughter Julia.

What are you proud of in your practice?

When I started Gateway Dental I envisioned a place with a soothing environment where people can relax and don’t have to be afraid to see the dentist. When you walk in you will notice this immediately. From the way our staff will treat you, to our comfortable couch and stained glass that emulates the light in a way to make you feel relaxed and at ease. Furthermore, we keep up to date with the most recent technology to reduce any discomfort as much as possible. I believe this practice represents what dentistry can do in the 21st century, and am incredibly proud of what the team has accomplished in the last 10 years.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I truly enjoy treating all my patients! Some have been with us since the beginning and I cannot express how fortunate I am for that. However, what gives me the most fulfillment as a dentist, is giving a patient the confidence to throw out a smile again. Sometimes we get very complicated cases where people have been afraid to go to the dentist for years, and it is incredible to see the effect we can have on the lives of these patients.
