Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

orn and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Dr. Barona grew up in a family with more than 60 years of dental experience: her grandfather, parents, and older sister are all Dentists. As an adolescent, Dr. Barona was fascinated by her parents’ and sister’s work, and how they made a difference when seeing each of their patients. She knew that she wanted to do the same in her career. Dr. Barona received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at UCSG – Catholic University of Guayaquil. After moving to Canada, she then completed a Master of Science in Craniofacial Science and Diploma in Periodontics at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Barona’s three-year periodontics specialty residency was rigorous and challenging, allowing her to gain advanced knowledge of periodontal disease and placement of dental implants. She has the in-depth experience and skills to see a patient, gather their information, and determine what treatment is most appropriate for the individual’s clinical and personal needs. In addition to her advanced clinical abilities, Dr. Barona is warm, kind, and attentive. She dedicates time to listening to each patient, asks insightful questions, and strives to understand the individual’s desires and concerns. This information is then integrated into the treatment planning process, ensuring the whole of the individual’s situation is addressed. Patients are informed, educated, and engaged throughout the process, ensuring the best experience and outcome.
