Dr. Dan I. Haas

Hello! Got Haas? I am Dr. Dan, and I would like to welcome you to our practice. Have a seat, make yourself comfortable with a complimentary drink from our mini-bar or feed our fish. Let our team do the rest to make you feel relaxed and at home. I have been a dentist in the North York area since 1998 after practicing for several years in Michigan where I graduated in 1995. One of the things I find most important in my practice is ongoing education, for both my team and myself. Personally, I do this by teaching as a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto and writing for a publication called "The Dental Advisor". It allows me and the team to stay up to date with the latest technologies and techniques. With regards to my patients, I strife to empower you to be able to make your own decisions through education. This allows us to make a treatment plan with you instead of for you. We take photos during examinations and show you our findings. That enables you to become part of the decision making process. We encourage you to ask questions and let us know what you are comfortable with. I focus on preventative dentistry to avoid dental emergencies and try to provide the most conservative treatment available. I believe this preserves a more natural tooth structure which leads to a more functional and aesthetic result. Outside of the clinic I spend most of my time with my family. I have a wife (Daneal) and two lovely daughters. However, I also try to give back to the community that has given me so much. In the last decade I have been a volunteer at the SHOUT clinic providing dental care to homeless and street-involved youth. What are you proud of in your practice?

I am very proud of what we as a team at Haas Dental Centre have been able to achieve over the last 16 years. From the ground up we have built a practice with the patient in mind. We treat you as our family and do what it takes to make you feel comfortable. Many of our patients have been with us for many years and some even travel down all the way from Huntsville to see us! It is an honour every time they come in for their check-up.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

Truth be told I thoroughly enjoy treating all my patients. However, I find it very important to give special attention to the kids that attend the practice. Dental anxiety is often developed at a very young age and it can be so simple to prevent this from happening. That is why we made it a priority to make our office as kid friendly as possible. For example, we offer entertainment for kids to help reduce their dental anxiety. Our TVs in the rooms are set to children’s programs and we also have a pond where kids can feed the koi fish. The koi fish in the pond always enjoy seeing the kids because it means they get extra full! After an appointment all kids are able to choose a prize from our treasure box.
