I recently moved to Toronto and was on the lookout for a new dental clinic. Downsview Dental Arts came highly reviewed, so I decided to give them a try. The front-of-house staff made a fantastic first impression—both the receptionist and the hygienists were warm, kind, and attentive. Their professionalism and friendly demeanour made me feel comfortable and cared for throughout my visit. That said, my interaction with the dentist left me somewhat unsettled. I raised a concern about a proposed intervention and suggested a "wait and watch" approach, as I believe in being an informed and proactive patient. Rather than engaging in dialogue, the dentist appeared to take my hesitation as a challenge to his professional competence. It was not my intention at all—I simply prefer to delay irreversible treatments unless absolutely necessary or until they can be scheduled thoughtfully. Thankfully, the hygienist’s tact and the bubbly receptionist helped to smooth over the experience. Subsequent confirmation from my previous dental records affirmed my instinct: there had been no deterioration of the issue flagged, validating the choice to defer intervention. In my view, patient advocacy should be welcomed, not treated with defensiveness. Especially in healthcare, a collaborative approach builds trust and often leads to better outcomes. As for the clinic itself, it is not the flashiest or most modern space—it has a more traditional interior—but it is clean, functional, and equipped with current best-practice instruments. It’s evident that good dental work is done here, even if the aesthetic is more dated. All in all, I would recommend Downsview Dental Arts to others in the North York area, especially for those who value a kind and competent support staff. I plan to continue using their services while I live in the area, though I hope for more open communication from the dental professionals in future visits.

It was a good first appointment.

I have never saw an extremely bad service such service from this office because the manager prepared about 6 invoices (or maybe more than 6) before I received the last one. She gave me the first invoice being over $200, then the second one is about $150,... and I even can not remember exactly how much I must to pay. I can not believe it. In addition, we discussed that I would wait at this office from about 3:20pm to 6:45pm at the same day in order to do an another appointment to do clean my top teeth (because at the first appointment, 1:30pm at January 13, 2025, they only done with my bottom teeth). However, the manager did a change, she made a mess bunch of the invoices, then told me a lot of things which I can not got what she want. And finally, I decided to not clean my top teeth at this office anymore.
