Dr. Gabriel Ponce

I was born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, and graduated from the University of Western with a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Biochemistry, and a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy. My passions include giving back to the community through volunteered time, as well as expanding my skill-set as a dental provider through various organizations and continuing education. I am a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Academy of General Dentistry, as well as numerous continuing education groups. My primary passion is cosmetic dentistry, but I am also an advocate for increased access to affordable dental care in my community. My parents were immigrants to Canada from South America, and I have first-hand experienced the importance of access to dental care, and it's effects on those who cannot afford it. I enjoy providing my patients services in all aspects of dentistry, both general and cosmetic. Above all else, I pride myself in providing gentle, accessible dental care through informed treatment planning, ensuring my patients receive the necessary options to achieve a healthy, beautiful smile.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

Difficulty of access to dental care should not be a reality for so many people. Almost everyone understands the importance of a healthy smile, not just for aesthetics, but for their overall well-being. Not everyone can afford this privilege. This is my philosophy as a dental provider: to bring down the barriers that keep dental access limited, and to guide my patient's towards an improved state of oral healthcare. It starts with providing necessary dental care at manageable costs, while also striving to afford access to a wide range of dental treatments. Compromise should never be a word used in healthcare, and I strive to ensure that dental care, both general and cosmetic, are within the reach of my patients.

What are you proud of in your practice?

Back when I was a dental patient myself, I always found the dental offices to be very "copy-paste". That weird dental smell. Those old high-school chairs against a table littered in magazines. Considering the cost of dental care is increasing over the years, we should expect the facilities and standards to also increase. My office was built with this in mind: a gentle environment free of the distractions of a normal dental office, while also catering to a community that is expecting more and more of us as dentists. Our office provides numerous dental services in one location, while also providing amenities you should expect in a modern world, such as televisions on the ceiling and digital dental technologies.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

There's a very special place in my heart for cosmetic dentistry. I take great pride in working with digital technology, dental ceramists, and the ever expanding field of dental techniques and materials to build a beautiful, healthy smile. Before becoming a dentist, I was a graphic & web designer, as well as a hobby photographer. I continue to incorporate these skills into my current dental treatments to communicate results to both my patients and the public.
