Dr. Michelle Khouri

A bay area native to the core, I was born in San Jose and lived here with my parents and younger sister until the age of 18. After high school, I left to begin my undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, where I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Cell and Developmental Biology. While there, I also became heavily involved in the pre-dental organization on campus and continued developing my long-standing passion for dentistry. I went on to get my Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. I was employed by Advanced Dentistry by Design soon after and am fortunate enough to get the chance to work in an atmosphere that not only allows for clinical growth and excellence, but also promotes a positive relationship among the doctors, patients, and staff. I understand that dentistry is a profession that serves the patient, and that it is essential to be up to date on the latest technologies and dental research in order to provide patients with the highest quality care—the care they deserve. I am constantly looking to learn and grow in the field, as well as forming a close and trusting relationship with every patient that walks through the door.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I have an insatiable curiosity and desire to learn everything I can to expand my repertoire and fine-tune my technique to provide patients with effective, long-lasting, and high quality treatment. Having studied under multiple mentors in many different areas of dentistry and taken hours upon hours of continuing education courses, I am able to take a whole body approach to each patient and determine the best course of action to get the desired result. I also place a huge emphasis on establishing trusting relationships with patients and empathizing with their concerns. No issue is too small, and I do my best to take the time to answer patients’ questions and make them feel comfortable. For me, dentistry is about more than just drilling and filling teeth – it is about creating a stable, healthy mouth to promote overall health and educating patients on how to maintain it.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

While I am trained in all facets of dentistry, the procedures I focus most on are any general dentistry procedures (fillings, crowns, bridges, emergency procedures), cosmetic dentistry (veneers, whitening), and orthodontic treatments (mainly Invisalign clear aligners).

What are you proud of in your practice?

While I believe our office does many things exceptionally, I am most proud of our rapport with our patients and our ability to put everyone that walks into our office for treatment at ease. Very few people enjoy going to the dentist’s office, and we are met with many people with severe dental anxiety. We make it a point to show everyone the patience and respect needed to make them feel safe. Our goal is that when you walk out the door, you look forward to the next time you will be back.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I enjoy doing all types of dental procedures, which is why I got into the profession in the first place. Everything—from fillings, crowns, and root canals to full blown cosmetic procedures or ortho—gives me great pleasure, and I enjoy all the intricate techniques involved to deliver the best work possible. I get great satisfaction any time I can use my hands to do a patient a service and see the final outcome before me.
