Dr. Calvin Whang

Dr. Whang received his Doctoral Degree in Dentistry from the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry and is board certified by the American Board of Dental Examiners. Dr. Whang is also a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Whang has also completed several nationally acclaimed Implant Residency programs and is in the process of completing his accreditation from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Whang also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of California, Irvine. While at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry Dr. Whang was a member of the Clinical Faculty in several areas of dentistry, including fixed prosthetics, removable prosthodontics and operative dentistry. He was also involved in state-of-the art research in such areas as Procera crowns and air abrasion dentistry.

With 25 years of dentistry under my belt, I offer my expertise to my patients in a friendly and welcoming environment. My practice belief is to provide the best dental care to my patients through knowledge, state-of-the-art equipment and materials. My firm belief is to treat my patients as I would treat family. I love the life-long relationships I have with so many of my patients. I've seen them grow from young children to wonderful young adults with new families of their own. It is the most rewarding part of practicing dentistry.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

I perform a large number of restorative treatments such as crowns, bridges and implants (both surgical placement and implant restorations). These types of treatments are very commonly needed and we are able to fabricate the restorations in-house with our CAD/CAM system which is very convenient for the patient.

What are you proud of in your practice?

Practicing dentistry over the years has allowed me to be a part of my patients' lives. The technical part of dentistry and staying on top of the most current techniques, equipment innovations and materials is something that will always keep me engaged, but at the end of the day, its the relationships with my patients that makes practicing dentistry worth while. It gives me great pride to treat my patients as I would treat family. I even get to attend the weddings of my special patients who have grown up in my practice. That is the real honor.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

In my practice, I am able to provide treatment for a wide breadth of dental needs, including but not limited to implants, crowns & bridges, implant dentures, traditional dentures, fillings, extractions and root canals. I enjoy the diversity of treatments that I get to perform, but find creating new smiles for patients very rewarding. Typically, results can be achieved with veneer or crown restorations and the resulting boost to the patients self image is immediately evident and very rewarding.
