i had a really good rapport and conversation with the hygienist. I'm new to LA and she had a lot of food and things to do recommendations for me.

I had a very disappointing experience with Smile Perfector Dental Group. I scheduled a routine check-up and cleaning through Opencare, relying on their high ratings, convenient location, and the assurance that they were “in-network” with my insurance. I hoped to become a regular patient based on these factors. When booking the appointment, I specifically requested a routine check-up and cleaning with an in-network provider. Opencare confirmed my appointment with Dr. Tiffany Maj, and prior to my visit, the clinic also confirmed the appointment and requested my dental insurance details, which I provided. However, upon arriving on time for my appointment, I was surprised to be seen by a different dentist, Dr. David Shouhed, without any prior notice from the receptionist. During the examination, the dentist recommended several unexpected treatments, including deep cleaning, laser treatment, a crown, and cavity fillings. Given that I have consistently received regular check-ups and cleanings every six months at another clinic, these recommendations seemed excessive. I informed the receptionist/manager that I would consider the suggested treatments later and clearly requested a routine cleaning instead. She agreed and arranged for the hygienist to perform the cleaning. The hygienist carried out a routine cleaning using scaling tools to remove plaque and residue from my gums, which aligned with my previous experiences at other clinics. He confirmed that a basic cleaning service had been performed. However, when I requested a receipt for the services as required by Opencare, the receptionist/manager refused to include the cleaning, claiming that only a deep cleaning—costing $268 out-of-pocket—would be acknowledged, despite my insurance coverage. Shockingly, she canceled my appointment in their system and assured me that she would email the receipt. After not receiving it, I followed up via text, only to receive a receipt that excluded the cleaning service. When I pointed out that a routine cleaning was performed, she insisted it was only polishing stains—contradicting the hygienist's confirmation. The cleaning, which involved scaling tools and lasted at least 15–20 minutes during my total visit of 1 hour and 40 minutes, was clearly more than just polishing. Her dismissive and unprofessional response left me feeling misled and frustrated, and I am concerned that other patients may have experienced similar treatment. To make matters worse, upon verifying with my insurance provider, I discovered that this dentist was actually out-of-network, meaning my insurance would not cover the visit. This was in direct contradiction to the confirmation I received from Opencare when scheduling the appointment. I am extremely disappointed with the dishonesty, lack of transparency, and unprofessionalism displayed by this provider. I strongly caution others to verify details independently before visiting this clinic.

Dr. Shouhed and the staff are very friendly, professional, and accommodating with regard to appointment scheduling. Very clean and modern office space with advanced technology/equipment. So far I highly recommend and plan to continue visiting.

Had a great experience here. Everyone on the staff was super friendly and attentive. Dr. Shouhed asked me a lot of questions about my dental history, current issues, etc. and it felt like he genuinely cared about my dental health.

I went it for persistent gum irritation that my previous dentist failed to address. Dr. Shouhed and his team quickly diagnosed the issue and provided effective treatment. The entire staff was friendly and supportive and it felt like their first priority was making sure I was taken care of. My gums are feeling so much better, just a day later. I will definitely be switching dentists!

Dr Shouhed and his team are so kind. They listen to their patients and look for ways to accomodate them. I never had a dentist follow up and ask how I'm doing after an appointment so I look forward to seeing this practice in the future.

Dr. Shouhed seems to be very well experienced and knowledgeable. He also has a very good bedside manner and is very understanding. I had a very bad experience at my last dentist and he realized right away that I need to rebuild my trust with going to the dentist. I liked that he recognized that and addressed it. Something about him just made me feel secure in his work and in his knowledge.
