Dr. Peter Michael Tufton

Dr. Peter Tufton was born and raised in New Orleans, LA where he graduated from De La Salle High School. He matriculated to Loyola University, graduating with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery. While in school he did research in free gingival grafts and received the award in periodontics upon graduating. After graduation he join the United States Navy Reserve.Dental.Corp While on active duty he served aboard the USS Kearsarge Aircraft Carrier during the Veitnam War. He finished his 10 years in the Navy as a Lt Commander and is still in contact with his fellow Dental Officers. Afterwards, he moved back to New Orleans and taught at Loyola University’s School of Dentistry, specializing in x-ray and diagnosis and crown and bridge instruction.

Dr. Tufton has been serving the greater New Orleans community for over 40 years! Dr. Tufton has built his practice based on treating the needs of each individual patient while developing a long lasting relationship. Many of Dr. Tufton’s current patients have been seeing him since they were children and he now treats their children!

Fixed restorations, removable prostheses, and implants

What are you proud of in your practice?

I have been treating patients in Gretna for over 40 years. I have watched my patients grow up and now treat their families. I treat every patient as if they were my own family. At this office, we are concerned most importunately about the patients well being. We are not some dental mill here to make the bottom line.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I enjoy treating patients that have had bad experiences with dentist before. I like to show them that a dental visit is not something to be feared but it can be enjoyable. I like to change peoples perception of what a dental visit can be and that they understand their treatment and why it is necessary.
