Dr. Hans Herchen

Dr. Hans Herchen is the Owner and President of Dental Choice; established in 1997. He graduated from the University of Alberta School of Dentistry in 1989 at the age of 23 and has spent the last 20 years providing general dentistry to Albertans. He recognized early on that patients need to find an office that they can trust, and that dentists should be free to focus on their practice and their patients first and foremost. He saw how many dentists were burdened with the endless business details of running a small clinical setting, and he decided to find a way to build his group practice operations into a model that could be easily understood and replicated for success, making his B2C dental offices into a B2B business model. Dr. Herchen has many roles, including maintaining awareness of both the external and the internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, patients, markets, new industry developments and standards. He also looks at potential acquisitions or the sale of the company under circumstances that will enhance shareholder value. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Hans Herchen has grown his group practice to become one of the biggest in Western Canada, and that is why he is a finalist in the 2017 EY Entrepreneur of the Year under the category of Health and Wellness.
