Dr. Zachary Van Hilsen

Dr. Van Hilsen grew up in Phoeniz, AZ, and moved to Colorado to attend Colorado College, where he studied math and physics. Following his undergraduate education, he attended the University of Pacific School of Dentistry, where he earned his DDS degree and achieved the honors of being named to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Van Hilsen was originally drawn to dentistry by his desire to improve the healthcare of others, but his experience in dental school brought out a passion for treating children and adults with barriers to care, such as those with special needs. Dr. Van Hilsen went on to pursue a residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Minnesota, followed by an anesthesiology residency at The Ohio State University. Dr. Van Hilsen returned to the state of Colorado in 2016 to begin private practice in anesthesiology and pediatric dentistry. His unique training sets him apart, as only a handful of doctors in the country are dual trained in pediatric dentistry and dental anesthesiology and he is the only dual specialist with such background in the entire state of Colorado. He brings great passion to his work and hopes that he may improve access to dental care for those who benefit from the anxiety relief and pain control provided by sedation and general anesthesia.
