Dr. Sergei Shirman, DMD

Dr. Sergei Shirman knew he wanted to be a doctor at the age of nine, and he started becoming interested in dentistry around the age of 12 since it combined his passion for art and medicine. In fact, the artistry of dentistry is one of the things he loves most about his job! Dr. Shirman received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Cleveland State University. While working on his undergraduate degree, he was directly involved in a genetic research project that later became published in a scientific journal. He then graduated top-five from Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine with a prestigious Academic Commendation and Dean's Award certificate underlining his outstanding academic accomplishments. He later completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Olin E. Teaque VA hospital in Temple, Texas. Dr. Shirman joined the International Association for Orthodontics and completed a tier advancement educational program entitled "Straight Wire Orthodontics." He successfully completed training at the Academy Of Facial Esthetics. He is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) , and the North Carolina Dental Society, he holds a membership with CDOCS. He has also completed training in implant dentistry with the Engel Implant Institute in Charlotte, NC, which offers live, hands-on continuing education courses for dentists to learn to place and restore dental implants with predictable and precise outcomes. Dr. Shirman has cared for patients for over a decade and understands that dentistry can change lives. Watching his patient's appearance and lives transform throughout their visits is priceless to him. He especially loves making a difference in how fearful patients experience the dentist. Dr. Shirman married his wife Oksana in 2005, and they are busy raising their three daughters Maria and twins Sophia and Anastasia. He enjoys flying planes, yoga, and meditation in his spare time. A fun fact people may not know about Dr. Shirman is that two cute bunnies are also an important part of his family!
