Miles Family Dental

Dr. Miles was born and raised in the small town of Ontonagon, located on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. He has spent a considerable amount of time in the military, nearly 30 years. He was enlisted active duty in the U.S. Army for 11 years serving as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant with 5th Special Forces, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After returning from Desert Shield and Desert Storm, he left the Army to complete his undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then went on to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and obtained his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D.). While at the University of Louisville, he graduated with Honors as well winning the Dean's Award. He served as class president for 4 years. Dr. Miles was awarded a 4-year Navy scholarship while attending dental school. Upon graduation, he completed a one year General Practice Residency (GPR) at Naval Hospital Great Lakes, Illinois. He spent 6 years active duty with the U.S. Navy. In 2001, he entered private practice which has grown to two locations. He remains in the military and is a Lieutenant Colonel serving in the Individual Ready Reserve. Dr. Miles feels it is important to stay on the cutting-edge of dentistry. Thus, he maintains memberships in many prestigious professional organizations to keep up-to-date on the latest techniques and technology. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. To give back to his community, Dr. Miles and his hygienists visit local schools during February, Kids National Dental Health Month, to give presentations about the importance of excellent oral hygiene. Dr. Miles also volunteers with local charities and sponsors multiple organizations. In his personal life, he enjoys fishing, water sports, skiing, snowmobiling, and spending time with his family: his wife, Kara, and his children, Nick, Donna, Justin and Alli.
