Dr. Vinay Sohal

Dr. Vinay Sohal was born and raised in Calgary and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in New York from NYU College of Dentistry. Dr. Sohal practices all aspects of general dentistry with a belief in developing long-lasting relationships with his patients. Keen on educating his patients on dental care, Dr. Sohal relays information regarding the topic in an easily understandable manner. As a result, not only does he strive to make an educational experience for his patients, but he also sets up a framework to prevent such problems from occurring in the future. Attempting to be an outdoorsman, Dr. Sohal continues his quest to one day catch a fish. In his spare time, he enjoys kayaking and flying to Vancouver to visit his fiancée. Dr. Sohal welcomes new patients and is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

Quality of care and attention given to patients should be of the upmost value to dentists. That is where I believe I thrive compared to others. Having a patient sit in our chair and understanding that their needs are being heard is something that you find less and less in the dental community. By giving patients a chance to express their concerns and address them accordingly is how I'm able to keep my patients happy and build life long connections with them and their families.

What are you proud of in your practice?

At Sierra Dental Airdrie what makes me get up every morning and excited to start work is the team I have to work with. Everyone brings their smiles and their best can-do attitude to work everyday so that we can treat patients with maximum efficiency and patient satisfaction.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

The cases which give me the most gratification and excitement is when we are able to take our patients out of pain. Dental pain is no joking matter and having someone deal with that day after day, with painkillers, is no healthy way to live. Whether it is fear of coming to the dentist or other reasons, when we are able to finally address the concerns at hand and render treatment, that is what makes me feel happy inside. Allowing someone to return to their normal pain-free state and eat the foods that gives them joy, is what makes being a dentist worthwhile.
