Last night my 3 year old son ended up hurting his arm i arrived at brampton civic around 1:00am with my boy crying and shivering with pain. The registration nurse had absalotly no pacience as she was noticably upset that my son was not co-operating when it came to the weighing in. my 3 year old in pain cryed out im scared.. and she said well we cant help you until we know how heavy he is. finally aftera few minuter we get finished with her. lets fast forward to the waighting room after you get finally called in.. where there is a plastic tray where the pacients put there paperwork in what ever order they want no matter who was there first... shouldnt possible breaks in bones in children be an emergency.. nope not at this hospital. lets fast forward 2 and a half hours of sitting in a room of people puking ing bags and no answers on when we would get called in because clearly asking this question is an annoyance to anyone who works there. finally we get a room.. lets fast forward to 5:00 am my son is finally seen by the very first doctor.. who then notifies me his elbow has been dislocated.. are you kidding me. the pain and pure shock my babies bodies just been through with nobody to check to see if he was okay. absalotly rediculas.finally the doctor pops his bone back in place and impacietly while my 3 year old boy is crying in pain from his bone just being poped back in tryes to force him to pick up anything to make sure his arm is working my son was in pain so didnt want to so as the doctor gives up after two minutes of his time tells me as hes walking out the doorif he can move it u can leave.. um excuse me... the doctor is now gone i didnt get to ask questions i screamed at him as he was lesving if this means were cleaed to go.. he yells back if he can move his arm.. I hate this hospital i hate we are not cared for .this treatment is discusting. my boy sat with a dislocation in this hospital for for hours with no treatment. how is this an emergency room? My poor kid. Get it together brampton civic!
I have had more then one bad experience in this hospital. I have never hated a place so much! My uncle was basically on his death bed (he passed away a few days later) when we had to take him to emerge. He had cancer and was in a lot of pain. They made him wait in emergency for over 12 hours. Everytime we kept asking how long the wait was, we noticed we were always placed at the bottom of the list because as the nurse said right in front of him "he is going to die anyways"! My uncle was in so much pain that he could no longer sit up in a chair and was rolling on the floor. A nurse came over and yelled at him to get off of the floor and told him to be quiet (he was screaming in pain)! They didn't help him at all. When we were finally put in a room, we never got any help. I had to change my own uncles diaper because we was unable to get up and we had to look for the nurses 50x in order to get something done! The nurses were rude to both my uncle and family who was having a rough time knowing we would only have a few days left with him! My grandfather is now in the hospital because he has fluid in his lungs and his family doctor suggested he needed to go to the hospital because he has a bad heart and they were concerned he was going to have a heart attack. It is over 24 hours later and my grandfather still does not have a room. They placed a hospital bed in a hallway for him to sleep. NO PRIVACY, NO VISITORS, NO BLANKETS and with the lights on and beeping all around him. They also made him take a pee test and didn't even come to grab the sample. They just left the sample and my grandfather who is in his 80's out in the hallway for everyone to walk around! I pray if I ever have to go to the hospital that I don't have to go to this one. I have too many stories about bad experiences with staff etc and not one good thing to say about this place!
I was went into labour and went to the delivery department. While in labour the nurse argued with me about my Health Card not being valid. (It was 2 weeks expired and you had to go to Mississauga at the time to renew. Stupid idea if you are 40 weeks pregnant) Anyways, she finally relented and let me sign the waiver sheet that OHIP told her 3 times to do over the phone. When they let me in, it was set up like a triage centre. I said I wanted an epi but there was a girl crying so they did her first and ignored me for 2 and a half hours. Then a doctor came and said he wanted to do an exam. I consented to a VE, I DID NOT CONSENT to having my membranes stripped. It was torture and I called him every awful name in the book. I cried and am still crying at the abuse!! They left for a long time. When a girl finally came and said I needed an IV i was in extreme pain and ready to deliver. I told her no, and said I was too far along. She shruged and left me for a half an hour until I started SCREAMING that I was having a baby. She brought a wheelchair and slowly....took her time and laughed at the fact I was angry and in pain. When they set me up in the room they left me with an inexperienced idiot of a nurse who kept running to ask questions about what she was supposed to do. The doctor came and told her to get an IV in me while I was pushing the head out. She couldn't get the needle in because I kept moving and yelling which would prompt her to tell me to be quiet and twice to shut up, which my partner yelled at her for. I was screaming ...CAUSE I WAS HAVING A BABY...You don't have to be quiet. The needle not going in caused me to bleed all over everything. After the delivery the baby wasn't breathing. An incredible team showed up and resuscitated him and I thank all of who ever they were for saving my son's life. But they didn't talk to me and left as fast as they came. Local anesthetic doesn't work on me, something about me having red hair, but the stitches the doctor was putting in was killer. I understand I needed to be stitched but it still was awful. No one stayed and cleaned up. When my mother arrived the bloody tools, blankets, placenta, and me were still there, and had been for an hour. I was in horrible pain. My hips (which I found out days later I had fractured) were killing me and the nurse after my mother threatened to call the College of nurses and video tape every single moment until they cleaned up and got me help. Postpartum was awful, he facility was nice but someone from accounting came first thing in the morning and screamed at me for not having insurance but taking up a semi private room. I said I didn't request the room and was just put here and she made some comments about me being another Teen girl looser ( I was 26 married for 7 years and it was my second kid, but thanks, glad to know I still look young.) then she forced a tonne of paper work on me to sign. I said I couldn't hold the pen cause I had lost so m
When is a kidney stone not a kidney stone? When it's misdiagnosed at Brampton Civic Hospital. Not only do they make you wait 5 hours in an exam room overnight without anyone checking on you while in severe pain (nor the other patients worse off than I was, including an infant) while the nurses gab around their station for hours and have just one emergency doctor on staff overnight who was working on another case somewhere else in the hospital, they make the wrong diagnosis with the 10-second doctor visit, throw some pain pills at you, and don't take a CAT Scan at that time to make sure (instead of needing to schedule 6 weeks later via outpatient, because Ontarians apparently can't get one without a blood test ahead of time, which only adds more delays). This was proved today after I visited Moncton (NB) Hospital's emergency dept using my OHIP card. I was in and out in 4 hours with the much better and real story, including an extremely fast turnaround for the CT Scan. Take my advice: head to Sunnybrook or Toronto General if you live in Brampton for anything more than a splinter. I wish I could give 0 stars for the staff and service; it is hard to screw up a reasonably new facility, so I have to give 4 there.
Really don't know what to say some amazing staff and all doctors were truly amazing. But very negative experience with some ultrasound technicians and few nurses.. When a mom loses a child .. A litlle smile or comfort touch can do wonders.. But it was missing. A review of nurses and technicians by patients when leaving the hospital is a big requirement. Truly felt that love for job wa completely missing from some staff... Request of an additional ultrasound by a doctor brought this anger expression on this ultrasound technician which i witnessed.
